HAPPY NEW YEAR! If you’ve been a follower of my blog for the past 6 years, then you know that I start off each new year with a list of my favorite beauty things from the previous year. I think it’s a fun way to feel like “Oprah” in my own little way…lol. So get your popcorn and your credit card ready because I’m sharing my 2018 Favorite Beauty Things now!
{In no particular order}

1. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation – medium to full coverage foundation that doesn’t look or feel heavy. It balances out the skin so that it appears smooth. Just recently they came out with a Matte Velvet Foundation which I love using on clients with oily skin. Available in 40 shades.

2. Beauty Blender – for that light-weight airbrushed foundation look. Dampen your beauty blender before use to get a softer application.
3. Cold Pressed Coconut Oil – for easy makeup removal with moisture that leaves the skin soft and smooth. Great for all skin types. Immediately follow with your normal skincare cleansing routine. It can also be used on natural hair to moisturize the scalp and dry ends.
4. Deluxe Chisel Powder Brush – for applying powder foundation, finishing powder and/or blush.

5. I love using my Beauty Blender but this Sonia Kashnuk Makeup Blender has been my new found favorite beauty thing this year. It’s bigger than the Beauty Blender which allows me to have a better grip when blending out foundations or concealers. The Makeup Blender still gives me that airbrushed look (which I love) and I also can stand it up during use or while drying after I’ve cleaned it.

6. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – for setting foundation and/or concealer. Use with your Makeup Blender for a smoother finish. Now available in 2 shades.
7. WetBrush – for detangling hair without major breakage. Start from the ends and work your way up to the root area.
8. Infuance Glazed Edges – edge control to tame unruly edges around your hairline. Available for purchase at Nyoka Gregory Beauty.
9. Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap – organic, non synthetic preservative soap to cleanse your face, body, hair and more. I use the bar soap to cleanse my face (baby unscented), body (all scents) and the liquid soap to clean my makeup brushes.
10. Ardell lashes – perfect lashes that come in different lengths, widths, and sizes. My favorite pair are “Demi Wispies and “Double Up” lashes. They can also be found at Sally Beauty and Ulta.

11. BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Ultra-Thin Straightening Iron has been my favorite flat iron for the last 6 or 7 years…if not longer. I’ve owned different styles and sizes but this 1″ straightener is the one I continue to come back to and that is why it’s on my 2018 favorite beauty things list. Because of the titanium plate, it really penetrates through the hair shaft to give it that sleek and shiny straight look. This iron gets really hot so my recommended temperature for at home use is 35 or 350 so that you won’t burn your hair. Available in 3 sizes.

12. Crown Brush Pro Blending Crease Brush C441– my favorite blending and crease brush. I use this brush to apply eyeshadow when I want a heavier crease look. It can also be used to buff out or blend out product.
13. Paul Mitchell Express Ion Smooth+ Flat Iron – Alongside of the BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Ultra-Thin Straigtening Iron I also use this iron. It’s perfect for flat iron styles as well as curling the hair. This iron is great for the hair because it doesn’t  burn the hair so it leaves it shinny and healthy although curling or flat iron use daily on high temperatures can result in heat damage. This will cause the hair to break and/or fall out. Limit your heat styling to no more than 3 times a week.

14. Pureology Sulfate-free Hair Products are luxury sulfate-free shampoos, conditioners and treatments for color-treated hair types. With their 100% vegan formulas, I use this line often to keep the integrity of my clients hair in tact. I love using the “Hydrate” and “Smooth” collections at the salon. Available for purchase at Nyoka Gregory Beauty.

15. ColourPop’s Precision Brow Pencils have been my FAVORITE brow pencils for the last 2 years. Not only are they reasonably priced but they are true to color. I love the fact that they are retractable and come with a spooly on the opposite end to manicure the brows while applying product. My favorite shades are “Black N Brown”, “Audacious Auburn” and “Cool Cocoa”.

17. Kenra Platinum Silkening Mist Spray – a light weight spray that tames flyaways and gives the hair sheen without the greasy look and feel. Spray at least 8″ away from hair. Available for purchase at Nyoka Gregory Beauty
18. Embryolisse lait-crème concentrè – a concentrated moisturizer that also pairs as a makeup eraser. Great for combination and dry skin types. Because it is concentrated, a little goes a long way.
19. NGB Lippies – Longlasting opaque liquid lipsticks and glosses. Shop from a variety of shades and texture types to pair with the perfect outfit.

20. Pat McGRATH is the Mother of Makeup! Everything she touches turns to gold and that is why we (beauty enthusiasts and professionals) can’t get enough of her makeup line. From the buttery and glittery eyeshadow palettes to the sparkling lipsticks, Pat has changed the game with her award-winning makeup collection. My personal favorite is her Mothership II: Sublime Eyeshadow Palette. With 10 tantalizing shades ranging from light to dark {or in the MUA language translation “OMG to Yes Gawd”} you will definitely get your life with these shades.

Have a wonderful and prosperous new year!
