Paige and Brad’s Wedding
How We Met
Paige and Brad’s wedding at The Corinthian Houston was an absolute dream! I met Paige back in 2016. She was a bridesmaid in her friend Kat’s wedding (seen below with her new baby bump). I remember her specifically telling me that she was not a person that wore makeup often and when she did, it was very soft and natural. I thought to myself “ok I’ve done this type of look before so this will be easy”.
Boy was I wrong! After I was done and gave her the mirror to see herself, she paused with a look on her face that I hadn’t seen before. Now I became nervouse because I was spending more time with her than I would the bride. So after a few (by a few I mean about 5) modifications to her look she happily got out of my chair and went to comb her hair.
This is why it is so important to chat with your bridal party about their looks before the wedding. Read more here.
During the process of me applying her makeup (and removing half of it) I remembered her telling me that she was engaged to a handsome guy named Brad and they would wed in 2018. Fast forwad to 2017 when I ran in to Paige at the “I Do! Soiree” hosted by Weddings In Houston. I got to meet her family and the infamous “Brad” and we both went our separate ways. Now the funny part about this is that Paige didn’t reach out to me for hair and makeup for her wedding at first (this is not uncommon nor does it hurt my feelings).
The Wedding Experience
Paige had originally done hair and makeup consultations with a few other artist in the Houston area that hadn’t met her expectations so when she came to me she seemed almost exhausted. I knew then that I had to take a little more time with her to make her feel as comfortable as possible. Sometimes when a bride has a vision of how she wants tol look on her wedding day it is hard to get her to see other options. Not every look will work for everyone.
Deciding on Paige’s hair and makeup did not come easy but as time progressed she began to trust me more. We were able to work together to come up with a look that was comfortable and beautiful on her. I feel like even on her wedding day there was a sense of nervousness as well as a feeling of peace. We’d already done the dress rehearsal at her bridal portrait session so it made for an stress-free zone on game day!
I must say that working with Paige and her mother was one of the best experiences I’ve had with a wedding party. They were open to my suggestions and made myself and my team feel like family. It was definitely memorable and an honor. I can’t wait to work with them again.
Paige and Brad’s wedding at The Corinthian was like none that I had experienced before. It was truly something that you would see on Pinterest or in a magazine. Everything was gorgeous…planned and executed wonderfully.
