Disney themed wedding | Sarah + Daniel
How We Met
Sarah and I met via The Knot. She reached out with her inquiry asking for pricing for her Disney-themed wedding. I remember our initial phone consultation like it was yesterday. She had a super bubbly personality talking about her wedding and how she and her mother were spending time paying attention to detail so that it would be the most magical day of her life.
Like hundreds of brides in 2020, Sarah had to reschedule her wedding date due to COVID-19. My heart broke for her. Not only because of the worldwide pandemic but also because she and her fiance were a part of a venue closure a few months earlier. Yes! Her wedding venue went out of business, took their money, and left them with unanswered questions. It was terrible.
Able to recover from those two disasters, she, like some of my other brides, went ahead and got married on their initially scheduled wedding date and then had their reception later. I’m so happy she finally got her magical moment.
The wedding day
Sarah was ready for the day! Having rescheduled her wedding date twice due to the pandemic, she was ready to get the party started. By the time her wedding date came around, she’d been married one year, so it was a first anniversary celebration as well.
Her Hair
When we did her trial session initially, she wanted to wear a half-up, half-down look. She had long hair, and we agreed that it would go with the overall Disney-themed look. But by the time we got to her actual wedding day, she’d cut her hair and was concerned that wearing a mask would cause her to get hot faster, so she decided on an updo.
I did an updo braided bun look for Sarah with one sleek side. This would allow her to take her mask on and off in case she got hot and also would be easy for her to remove the mask without it getting caught in her hair.
Her Makeup
Since our first meeting, Sarah told me that she wanted airbrush makeup, and that’s what she got. Airbrush makeup is sprayed onto the skin instead of using a makeup brush traditionally. I gave her a soft pink eyeshadow look combining shimmers and mattes, accentuated the apples of her cheeks with blush, and finished things off with a pink-nude lip and lashes.
What did she say?
“Nyoka is absolutely the best! She is super sweet and caring but also very professional! She did my hair and makeup for my wedding and she also did my 4 bridesmaids’ hair and makeup. From the moment I met Nyoka, I felt so comfortable and relaxed! She was also super flexible with me since I had to push my wedding (twice) because of covid. I could not be more pleased to have gotten to know her and work with her. She helped make my big day AMAZING. I will definitely be calling her anytime I need something done for a special event! My bridal party loved her so much that they want to book a make-up party! We are all team Nyoka”!
