Harry Potter Wedding | Slytherin Theme
“What is a Slytherin house” is what I asked photographer and friendor (vendor friend) Christine when she asked me to be a part of a Harry Potter wedding Slytherin-themed styled shoot. I was familiar with Harry Potter but have never seen the movies nor have I read the books so I was not familiar with anything related to the franchise. So I immediately went to work researching elements of the movie to get an idea of how hair and makeup would look.
The vision was to create parts of the Slytherin house that couples could relate to and take elements from…especially fans of the movie.
The initial mood board for hair and makeup was a bit softer so on the day of shooting I got in touch with Christine and told her that I wanted to change things up a bit after seeing the model in person. She said “yes” and I did my thang!
Hair
Her hair is long so I did a sleek front area with body waves and a part in the center. To help me achieve the messy waves, I used a curling wand taking small sections then pinned each section to allow the curls to cool down. This way the curls would last longer and not disrupt as fast. I then teased and sprayed the hair a bit for a little volume.
Makeup
Do you see her gorgeous face??? Using the Pat McGrath MOTHERSHIP II: SUBLIME PALETTE, I decided to play up her eyes with green eyeshadow in the shade “Blitz Emerald” to create a smokey look, topping things off with bold lashes and a soft nude pink lip. This way she could be bold and bridal all at the same time.
