Secrets Los Cabos Wedding | Ashley + Adrian
Ashley and I met through her cousin, Tameshia, years ago. I remember Tameshia having her annual birthday party weekend in Dallas (where Ashley lives), where we would all gather at the State Fair of Texas. Over the years, we gals became closer, seeing each other at events and family gatherings all the time. When it was time for Ashely to tie the knot, I was truly honored to be there for her Secrets Los Cabos wedding.
My husband and I got married at a Secrets resort a few years back. Hence, Ashely blames me for her Secrets wedding simply because she and Adrian visited our wedding resort and fell in love with it and the idea of having a destination wedding one day themselves. And you know what, I’ll take the blame because she looked beautiful and it was one of the best wedding weekends I’ve ever seen.
Ashely’s wedding weekend was at the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort on July 4th weekend. The spa area was reserved for us to come in and do hair and makeup for herself, makeup for the bridesmaids, and both moms. Ashley was one of my “detailed” brides, so she knew what she wanted without question. My assistant Krystal and I arrived before the ladies did so that we could get set up and be ready to start on time.
Her Hair:
Ashley wanted big-body beach waves for her wedding, so I used a wanding iron and pinned her hair first. This gave the curls plenty of time to cool down and set before styling them. She opted for a full sew-in with a closure because she has natural hair, and we didn’t want to risk it getting frizzy with the weather. It was hot earlier that day and rained a bit, but it began to cool off by the time she got married that evening, so the full sew-in was a lifesaver. She wore two crystal bridal combs in her hair and a veil.
Her Makeup:
Ashely is not makeup shy! She’s a girly girl and loves a good red lip and highlights so bright the people in the back row could see it…lol. So for her makeup, we did full airbrush glam. I love doing airbrush makeup on my brides because it can add a smooth finish to the face and hold up to some humid temperatures. Also, I did precision brows, shimmery eyes, highlight, contour, and a pinky nude lip. She had eyelash extensions put in before she left home, so strip lashes were not added.
Her outfit change:
I only had to touch up her lips (because she was kissing her new hubby) and lightly blot her face for the reception. Her hair and makeup lasted through the wedding, reception, AND after-party!! Okkkuuuurrr!
HER PARTY:
All of her bridesmaids and her mom received neutral-toned looks with lashes and a berry pink lip.
WHAT DID SHE SAY?
“I recently married July 6th in San Jose Del Cabo. Nyoka and one of her team members (Krystal) flew out to do all of the lady’s makeup for my big day. Nyoka and Krystal helped do 10 makeup looks total, and 3 of the ladies l (including myself) had their hair styled as well. I was not nervous at all with Nyoka doing the makeup for our wedding, as I have followed her on Instagram and Facebook for some time now. She does great work. However, I was nervous about having 10 full faces of makeup for them to complete and a short time frame. Nyoka did amazing a keeping me calm and provided me with a timeline for that day to help organize the day’s beauty plan. We were able to to get all 10 girls’ makeup and hair completed and still have time left to do touch-ups!! I was so happy with the service and the beautiful makeup that I can’t wait to book them to come to Dallas for my next big life event. Nyoka and Krystal both have amazing spirits and are super funny! They managed to keep my nerves down all the way up to the point when I got ready to walk down the aisle. Nyoka stayed with me even after the ceremony to help touch up my makeup prior to photos. This team is truly a great group of talented people women! Thank y’all again for taking care of us and making my day so special.”
