Boxwood Manor Wedding | Bianca + Tannis

How We Met

Bianca was introduced to me through a MUA colleague of mine. I remember our initial conversation about her wedding at Boxwood Manor, which included a wedding party of about 12 people. I respectfully declined as I no longer had a team to handle a party that size. Well, she must have gone back to the drawing board and crunched some numbers because when she came back, she cut the bridal party number in half. I was super curious as to how that could happen, but she would later explain that she and her fiance’ each had bridesmaids who needed hair and makeup, plus her mom.

It all made sense, and our beauty journey would slowly blossom from there. Today, Bianca remains a client of mine, coming in for regular trims and treatments to maintain her beautiful locs.

Her Hair

Bianca has thick, beautiful Afro-Latina hair and didn’t want to wear it down for the wedding. Like many of my brides, she fears that the heat and humidity in Houston will take over her hairstyle, leaving her no choice but to get a sew-in or wear her hair up, so she chose a sleek ponytail. Initially, she wanted a big fluffy ponytail style, but after we tried it out during her “Sneak Peek,” she soon realized that big hair was not her thing! Bianca’s wedding was set for the month of May, and while there’s a slim possibility that it could be cool, there is more of a chance that it would be hot, so we went with a simplistic look.

After our trip to a local beauty supply store, we found the perfect human hair blended ponytail for her style, and she was happy. Bianca wore a mid-length veil adorned with NGB Hair Accessory “Andonnia”.

Her Makeup

Bianca was very clear that she didn’t want what brides are calling the “Instagram Model” look…none of that “cakey” makeup. She wanted to look like a bride but still look recognizable. She has beautiful eyes, skin, and cheekbones, so I wanted to make sure to enhance those features for her. I used soft pinks, mauves, and rose colors. A light contour was done, and fluffy lashes finished off the look. With features like hers, I didn’t have to use a ton of products because she’s naturally beautiful.

Her bridal party

For her bridal party, she wanted sleek buns with middle partings and natural glam. And her mom wore her hair naturally curly while also rocking the natural glam look.

What did she say?

Nyoka was a DREAM! I absolutely adored having her as our wedding MUA and hairstylist. After our first initial intro call, I knew I was in good hands. Nyoka has such a sweet spirit, and I always felt cared for as her client.

Her hospitality is unmatched, but I also appreciate how punctual and thorough Nyoka and her team was leading up to the wedding. She absolutely slayed our hair and makeup and truly had me feeling like a princess! I'm so grateful to have had her there for our big day and I would absolutely recommend booking with Nyoka Gregory Beauty. <3
