Boxwood Manor Wedding | Lashay + Brian

How We Met

You can’t tell me that this wasn’t THE wedding of the year for Lashay and Brian’s family. Anyone who was anyone was at this beautiful event. I mean, there was not an empty seat at their wedding. You could tell that their family truly showed up to celebrate their union, and I couldn’t be more excited to have been a part of it.

Boxwood Manor is one of my favorite venues in Houston because their team is so nice (hey, Avery), and their wedding suites are gorgeous. As a hair and makeup artist, I get to work in different places, so when a bride says, “I’m getting married at Boxwood Manor,” my response is always a YES!!! The wedding suite for the bride is open, airy, and has tons of natural light. The amount of countertop space, seating, and electrical outlets is every bridal beauty pro’s dream.

Meeting Lashay was not a typical way in which I usually meet my brides. She was recommended by her cake company owner, Ms. Tammy Allen, during a conversation they were having at her tasting. It just goes to show that you never know who may recommend your services at any moment in time. Although it was a bit tricky trying to coordinate our schedules to meet for her trial session, this educator and I were able to meet and seal the deal as hairstylist and bride…and now a new client.

Her Hair

Lashay has long, beautiful natural hair but didn’t want to wear it down because her wedding was in June. I’ve noticed that “sleek” styles have become SUPER popular here in Houston because of the humidity and hot temperatures, and that’s exactly what she wanted. Even though Lashay has long hair, it has a fine texture, so I added texture to her hair to keep the bobby pins from slipping and to also add fullness to her hair.

We finished off her hair with loose curls in the front and tons of hairspray!
