Wedding Hairstylist at The Springs in Cypress

Hannah is one of the most beautiful brides I’ve ever worked with. I’m not just talking about her outer beauty because she IS drop-dead gorgeous, but her inner beauty…her peace and joy…it’s infectious. Now, this is not my first rodeo as a wedding hairstylist at The Springs in Cypress, but this was the first time I was more than just a hairstylist.

This beauty was visiting Houston from The Netherlands a few years ago when she met Michael and a local “Ross” here in Houston. Yes, you read that correctly. She was in town for a conference and went to Ross for an outfit. By the time she was finished shopping, she had gained more than a few outfits…she got a man!! So now’s your chance to head over to Ross to see what “all” they have to offer lol

The Wedding

Hannah was a joy to work with on her wedding day. She was calm, laid back, and in good spirits. Since she chose not to have a bridal party, it was mainly her and I and her makeup artist in the room during the beauty part of the day. It was a Thursday afternoon, and I had booked the day for her wedding, so I hung around to help this mommy-to-be out when needed. We ate pizza and chatted about life and her new bundle of joy in her precious belly.

I was an unofficial bridesmaid throughout the day, making sure she was resting, had enough water, helping her with her dress…you know, bridesmaid stuff. Listen, I’m a beauty pro, but I’m also a human being who loves helping others, so I didn’t mind being there for Hannah because she deserved it. Losing her mother just six months before her wedding and not having her friends and family able to come from Europe due to COVID-19 was not easy for her, and I believe that God paired us together so that I could be just a tiny portion of kindness on her big day.

Her Hair

Hannah has A TON of hair, so my suggestion to her was to come to my studio the day before the wedding so that I could prep her hair. I shampooed and conditioned her hair and gave it a good trim. This way, all I had to do on the wedding day was style her hair and apply her headpiece and veil.

For her hair, she chose a sleek low chignon bun with pieces to frame her face, and that’s exactly what she got. I used the Bed Head Hair Stick to start the sleek process; then, I applied Edge Effect Edge Control to seal her edges before putting her hair in a ponytail and making the bun. I finished the look with an extreme hold hairspray and shine spray.

What did she say?

Wow wow wow!!! Just had my wedding last Thursday and I can't thank Nyoka enough. I was looking for a hairstylist in Houston through Instagram. I am not a US citizen myself, but my husband is American so we decided to have our wedding in the States since it was easier for my family to come here from Europe than the other way around. I had most of my vendors booked except hair. I'm very picky about who touches my hair lol, especially since not everyone knows how to work with curly hair. But then when meeting Nyoka the first time I had a blast and was so pampered!!! I felt super comfortable in her salon and knew I made a friend then and there. My bridal portraits turned out GORGEOUS because she brought the whole look together by doing my hair: a regal/classic look (love it). Exactly the way I asked. On the wedding day she showed up on time, brought her bubbly and cheerful personality with her as always, and she again made a masterpiece of my hair. Due to covid, my entire family could not attend from Europe, but I found such a support in Nyoka. Her communication, customer service, and professionality are things that make it so easy to work with her. She was the bridesmaid that I couldn't have on that day: she fixed my dress and hair continuously, made sure I felt OK and kept checking on me, and touched up my make-up around evening time. She stayed my entire wedding when she didn't even have to and I'm so grateful she did!!! She brought so much positivity to such an already emotional and hectic day. I'm happy to say I now found my permanent hairstylist here in the US. Nyoka, again, thank you so so much!!!
